28 Businesses Win Grants as Inner Sunset's Homegrown Revival Fund Picks Its First Class
SF New Deal announced the winners of the Inner Sunset Neighborhood Vibrancy Fund on Thursday, with an Oakland pizza institution and a new Yemeni café set to fill the neighborhood's most prominent vacancies.
Two long-empty storefronts at the corner of 9th Avenue and Irving Street — arguably the Inner Sunset's busiest intersection — are finally getting new tenants, thanks in part to a $300,000 fund seeded entirely by anonymous local neighbors. The nonprofit SF New Deal announced on Thursday the 28 recipients of the Inner Sunset Neighborhood Vibrancy Fund, a pilot program launched in July that extends the kind of small-business support once reserved for downtown to a residential commercial corridor.
