Crash Sends SUV Into Jolene's, Leaving Mission Queer Bar With $10,000 Repair Bill
A two-car collision at 16th and Harrison streets on Monday morning drove an SUV backwards through the front gates of the seven-year-old bar, injuring the driver and forcing the owner to launch a fundraiser.
A two-car crash shortly before 8 a.m. on October 13 sent an SUV hurtling backwards into the entry gates and front door of Jolene's, the queer bar at the corner of 16th and Harrison streets in the Mission District. A pickup truck and an SUV collided at the four-way intersection; the SUV's airbags deployed on impact and the vehicle came to rest embedded in the bar's front entryway, according to Mission Local and SFist. The female driver of the SUV was taken away by ambulance on a stretcher. The male driver of the pickup truck appeared unharmed.
